Why NomAI
Calorie tracking without the catch.
Most trackers want a subscription, show ads, and keep your eating habits on their servers. NomAI does none of that.
AI that stays on the device
Google's Gemma 4 model runs entirely on your phone. Meal text and photos are analysed locally, even in airplane mode.
No accounts, no tracking
No sign-up, no email, no analytics or advertising SDKs. There is no NomAI server, so there is nothing for us to collect.
Free and open source
No paywalls or premium tier. The full source is on GitHub under the MIT license, so anyone can check what it does.
Clear daily insight
A calorie ring, protein, carbs and fat at a glance, plus weekly charts, a searchable journal and a compliance calendar.
A goal that fits you
Suggests a daily target from your height, weight, age and activity using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, with a gentle 500 kcal deficit.
Your data, your backups
Export your history as a file to Drive or anywhere you like, and restore it on a new phone. Meal reminders run on the device.
How it works
From plate to log in seconds.
Pick how you want to log, let the on-device model do the estimating, then review and adjust anything before it counts.

Two AI modes
Pick what your phone can handle.
On first launch NomAI checks your phone and recommends a model. You can switch any time in Settings, and manual logging always works.
Text only
Describe meals in your own words. Lighter and faster, recommended for most phones.
- 4 GB RAM minimum
- Runs on the phone's GPU
Text + photo
Also estimates meals from a photo. Recommended on recent flagship phones with 8 GB of RAM or more.
- Flagship chip recommended
- GPU, with a slower CPU fallback
